El Salvadoran designer, Sofia Avila earned a degree in Art Direction & Advertising from the Instituto Europeo di Design in Barcelona, and  explored her interests in jewelry design at Alchimia University in Florence, Italy. Realizing her true passion was in creating, she pursued a degree in fashion design at Parsons The New School. After graduating from Parsons, she interned with designer Rosie Assoulin, who became a major influence and inspiration, then briefly worked at Elie Tahari, before venturing out on her own to establish SOÜF.

SOÜF's handmade, cedar wood bags are artisanally crafted from reclaimed 100+ year old columns found on now defunct Salvadoran estates. Each bag is finished with brass or chrome handles and bedecked with natural, semi-precious stones of your choosing amongst those available: black onyx, yellow jasper, red jasper, blue lapis lazuli, and green malachite. Stones are hand cut and polished in New York City. Select hand engraving for personal customization.
